About First Steps Women’s Centre
First Steps Women’s Centre delivers services that support and empower local communities, with a strong focus on inclusion, participation and social impact. Through the Unity in Diversity Programme, the organisation is leading an important PEACEPLUS initiative designed to build understanding and respect for diversity, strengthen capacity within minority communities, challenge hate narratives through education and dialogue, and create sustainable integration pathways for migrant workers and refugees.
The Role
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Project Officer will support the day-to-day delivery of the Unity in Diversity Programme across Mid Ulster’s three main towns. Working closely with participants, partners and local communities, this person will help deliver meaningful activities that encourage connection, inclusion and intercultural understanding.
The postholder will coordinate and support a range of programme activities, including dialogue circles, English language classes, cultural initiatives, community events, running and walking groups, and citizenship exam mentoring. The role will also involve engaging participants, responding to enquiries, maintaining accurate records, supporting monitoring and reporting requirements, assisting with communications and social media, and helping to build strong relationships with community, statutory, voluntary and faith-sector partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is organised, culturally sensitive and passionate about supporting diverse communities. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing a varied workload within a part-time schedule and will bring a strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.
