About the Role
As a Night Concierge (Awake), you’ll play a vital role in ensuring residents feel safe, secure, and supported throughout the night. You’ll be responsible for maintaining the building, responding to any issues or emergencies, and ensuring everything is prepared for the day ahead.
This is a hands-on and varied role where no two nights are the same, requiring a calm, reliable, and proactive approach.
(This role may also be suitable for candidates searching for positions such as Night Support Worker, Concierge, Night Porter, Residential Support Worker, or Facilities Assistant.)
Key Responsibilities
• Secure the building during night-time hours and ensure a safe environment for residents.
• Welcome residents returning in the evening, ensuring a friendly and reassuring presence.
• Carry out cleaning duties across communal areas and assist with laundry tasks as required.
• Support with basic food preparation and room setup for events when needed.
• Conduct routine maintenance, health and safety, and system checks (e.g. boilers).
• Respond appropriately to emergencies, ensuring the safety of residents and staff.
• Remove waste and recycling from communal and residential areas.
• Complete clear handovers at the end of each shift, recording any incidents or updates.
About You
You’ll be dependable, observant, and comfortable working independently, with:
• Good written and spoken English.
• An understanding of the needs of older people and the challenges they may face.
• Confidence in handling emergencies calmly and effectively.
• Experience in cleaning, domestic, or similar practical roles.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• The ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
It would be even better if you also:
• Have experience working with the public or in a customer-facing role.
• Have previous experience in awake night work.
Why Join Abbeyfield Belfast?
